Modern Chemistry

The Master’s programme Applied Chemistry (M.Sc.) is an international, English-language study programme jointly offered by Merseburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), the University of Kragujevac (Serbia) and the State University of Novi Pazar (Serbia).

The programme combines modern chemical sciences with digital technologies and sustainable transformation processes. Students study at three universities in two countries, gaining international experience and interdisciplinary competencies.

Within two semesters, students complete a curriculum of 60 ECTS credits and graduate with a Triple Degree Master of Science in Applied Chemistry.

The programme aims to educate highly qualified chemists with strong applied and research-oriented skills who are prepared for careers in international industry, research institutions or doctoral programmes.

Take off internationally!

This Bachelor's degree programme combines four important subject areas, guaranteeing professional success on the international stage. Engineering and the Natural Sciences, Business and Economics, Communication and Intercultural Knowledge, and Foreign Languages. The programme is taught in English and is offered by two universities - Merseburg University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. Specialists from both institutions teach in their respective fields to guarantee you the best possible study experience. A promising combination of theory and practice as well as technology and business.

Triple degree in Chemistry (M.Sc.)

Study Concept

The Master Applied Chemistry programme follows an international cooperative model with integrated mobility. Students study at all three partner universities and benefit from complementary expertise in applied chemistry, digital chemistry and sustainable transformation processes.

Partner Universities

  • Merseburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany)
  • University of Kragujevac – Faculty of Science (Serbia)
  • State University of Novi Pazar (Serbia)

Students are enrolled at multiple partner institutions and study at different locations during the programme.

Modern topics in Chemistry

First Semester – International Mobility

Students complete modules at all three partner universities:

  • University of Kragujevac – Advanced Organic and Inorganic Synthesis
  • State University of Novi Pazar – Chemoinformatics and AI in Chemistry
  • Merseburg University of Applied Sciences – Sustainable Transformation Chemistry, Research Internship and Intercultural Communication modules

This international semester enables students to work in diverse academic environments and develop intercultural competencies.

Second Semester – Research and Master Thesis

The second semester focuses on research and practical experience:

  • Working Internship or industrial placement
  • Master’s thesis
  • Master seminar and thesis defence

The research project may be carried out at one of the partner universities or in cooperation with an industrial partner.
